“Winter Wedding” is the Diary of our daily life, Paola’s and mine. It was
written during the winter 2008-2009, after 20 years of life in the country
and 10 years of theatre around Italy and Europe.
But it is also the story of our love and and the story of the love that binds
us to the Ariette, to our fields, to our animals, to friends and fellows. Love for theatre, kitchen and agriculture. Love for the time passing and
changing life, bodies, thoughts and feelings.
It is an intimate and delicate show, fragile and sincere.
It is true to our poetics and coherent with the choices we made in the last
20 years, during our “second life”, as I like to call it.
20 years of daily experiences that brought us in a land where the solitude
is the only condition of our being in front of Nature.
At the same time alone and brothers of stones, beasts, flowers and the
sky. Grains of sand and part of the Whole. Married to daily life, without
escape, with no possibility of separation.
During those 20 years, Paola and I did not succeed in sharing our
experience with others. We did it in shreds, splinters and fragments, with
someone, a little with someone else, here and there. I keep repeating it is
normal, it is okay.
Ferro is with me and Paola, around the table of the “Winter Wedding”.
He has also nothing to do with our experience, but I think he’s the only
friend who has been silently followed it, without making the same choices,
and he’s the witness of a marriage which is not his own.
And today we open our kitchen, the kitchen of our memory, because this
unsatisfiable desire of sharing is temporarily fullfilled only when you
come in and sit down at the table, when you look at us and wait for
something.
This moment the Winter Wedding Ceremony begins.
