TEATRO DELLE ARIETTE - 2004
a co-production with Santarcangelo dei Teatri

With support of Regione Emilia Romagna, Provincia di Bologna

It was in Santarcangelo, in Spring-Summer 2004.
We (Teatro delle Ariette), with the co-production of Santarcangelo dei Teatri, realized a theatrical event on an agricultural field 6000 sm wide, growing vegetables and corn, thinking of a vegetal drama that was able to host and condition the humans.
Now the play lives out of that fields, in theatres, parks, sheds end it is re-invented every time according to the place where it takes place, still keeping an intimate connection to the original experience.
The Summer. The end would not be born without six months of growing, welcomed by the rhythm of the earth, with its sounds and the discoveries made through the time, the weather, the sky and the plants.
Beyond any political, ethical or religious belief, out of social roles, out of time and space, life has led us in front of death, in a place without certainties, on a ground ruled by dreams.
There, The Summer. The end sprouted, on Pasolini’s questions, on our astonishment in front of the Mistery. And now it lives like a lay Easter, a ritual of crossing and transformation.

The Summer. The end goes beyond the form of a play and it is directly connected to the form and function of the rites of fertility of the earth by folk wisdom where fair, mourning, crying and laughing, life and death are indissolvably tied.
